In recent months, various media sites have repeatedly featured reports of a surging interest in Canada as an international study destination. This interest heightened further in the weeks following the election of Donald Trump as the President of the United States in November, 2016. A new ranking of higher education systems worldwide shows Canada continues to be a leader in post-secondary education. The country came seventh worldwide in the 2017 Universitas 21 (U21) Ranking of National Higher Education Systems, a report that ranks 50 national higher education systems in four areas: Resources, Environment, Output, and Connectivity.
