Canada Remains Open to Students Worldwide Following U.S. Immigration Ban on Select Countries
Universities and colleges voice their support for welcoming, open society in the wake of President Trump’s executive order to suspend immigration to the United States from seven predominantly Muslim countries.
Many Canadian universities and colleges have made statements in response to the executive order, expressing concern for the immediate 90-day suspension on immigration to the US from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Universities Canada, an advocacy group for 97 Canadian universities, issued a statement on Sunday evening condemning the order. Many member universities have since issued statements supporting Universities Canada and echoing their concern. [Read more…]
